CPD Strategy

Developing a Medical CPD Strategy....

at Merseycare NHS Trust

In June 2012 the General Medical Council (GMC) published 'Continuing Professional Development' guidance for all doctors which explains what the GMC expects doctors to do to maintain and improve their practice through CPD. The guidance is designed to help doctors understand and meet the CPD requirements for revalidation.
Now, due to revalidation, CPD has a higher profile than ever before. It is no longer sufficient to treat your CPD experience as a form filling exercise. Doctors will be required to provide much stronger CPD evidence - their reflections and its influence on their practice.

As a result of its increased profile  "I'm currently working with Merseycare NHS Trust and producing a Medical CPD Strategy for them."  says Lynne Christopher.

"Dr David Fearnley, Medical Director at Merseycare Trust, is determined to ensure that his medical staff are appropriately supported, developed and have clear objectives so they can complete the learning and development activities identified by appraisal and performance reviews."
