The 16th Annual Grange Conference 2017
Spotlight on Dr Stewart Vaggers - Grange Conference Director

Stewart was formerly an NHS Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist based in the West Midlands. Having become a regular Grange Conference attendee prior to retiring, he joined the conference planning team in 2015 and now helps to engage speakers and promote the benefits of event to his colleagues.

Stewart’s NHS career was spent at South Staffordshire & Shropshire NHS Foundation Trust working in medium and low secure settings. He developed interests in management and clinical governance and helped to establish a Medical Directorate within the trust. He served as deputy Medical Director for a number of years and held the post of Medical Director on the trust board for 4 years.

Stewart has acted as an expert witness during his consultant career. After leaving the NHS he established a consultancy through which he has continued his medico-legal work. His practice involves criminal and civil proceedings, some of which have been high-profile and attracted media attention.
Stewart also works as a Medical Member of the Mental Health Tribunal.

Why you should attend the Conference….? ‘It’s a must for medico-legal experts working in our field’

Stewart would encourage all clinicians with an interest in medico-legal matters to attend the conference. The standard of the speakers is exceptional; the conference size supports a high quality and interactive learning experience, the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and provides ample opportunity for networking. Being residential, there is also plenty of opportunity for 1:1 confidential peer support.

Stewart’s conference highlights and recommendations…..

‘I always find that there are key learning opportunities at every conference but the highlights for me are the beautiful setting at Ripley Castle and the conference dinner in the Castle’s library – not to be missed!’
